The Wongai Project (a joint venture), located in the Laura basin in far north Queensland, Australia.  It is an early stage development coking coal project.

The Wongai Project is located on EPC 2334 and is 140 km north of the township of Laura in Far North Queensland.

The Wongai Technical Expert’s Report confirmed the estimate of a total 90.2 Mt of Mineral Resources (JORC 2012) in the following categories for the Wongai Project:
  •  Indicated – 20.2 Mt
  •  Inferred – 70.0 Mt

The Wongai deposit is located within the Laura Basin which is a remote and undeveloped basin north of the township of Laura. The main seam of interest is the Bathurst seam which can vary in thickness from less than 1.0 metre to 3.0 metres and averages 1.5 metres in the proposed mining area. Bounty has completed an initial concept study and prefeasibility study for the area and will shortly commence work on a detailed bankeable feasibility study.

The Wongai Project is a thin seam hard coking coal project which Bounty considers is potentially well suited for underground bord and pillar mining. This is a shallow underground project with an opportunity for a low capital cost mine entry.  It is only 14 km from the coast which provides an opportunity to develop a low cost transport option.
